Our Principles

At Fundacja Edukacji Muzycznej, our workshops are a joyful endeavour, bringing together students, parents, teachers, and volunteers to create a vibrant and enriching musical community. To ensure that each workshop is successful and stays true to the ethos of the Suzuki Method, we follow a set of guiding principles that reflect our commitment to respect, preparation, and collaboration.

With limited spots available at each skill level, we also carefully consider how participants can come together as a cohesive and harmonious group, ensuring that our principles are brought to life for everyone involved. This approach helps us foster a supportive and inspiring environment where everyone can thrive and grow together. We warmly invite you to explore our principles and join us in this shared journey of music and learning.

Below, we share with you our 4 guiding principles.

Suzuki Spirit

At the core of our workshops is the 'Suzuki Spirit,' a principle we hold in the highest regard. This spirit encompasses a belief in the power of nurturing a child by supportive and understanding environment. It also involves maintaining healthy, collaborative relationships between teachers and parents. While it's challenging to encapsulate the entirety of the 'Suzuki Spirit' in a few words, it fundamentally represents a commitment to these values, guiding everyone in their musical and personal development.

Preparation and Commitment

A key to the success of our workshops is the preparation of our participants. We often provide music pieces as preparatory work, which form the basis of the learning and group performances during the workshop. If even a few participants are underprepared, it can significantly impact the group’s collective learning experience. Hence, we emphasise the importance of being well-prepared, reflecting a commitment to personal excellence and respect for the collective experience.

Flexibility and Understanding

Over two decades of organising workshops have taught us the invaluable lesson of expecting the unexpected, especially with over 200 participants involved. When challenging situations arise, it's crucial for everyone – families, teachers, and organisers alike – to adopt an understanding and respectful approach. Keeping a cool head and maintaining a sense of empathy is essential, as any loss of composure can greatly affect the overall experience. The principle of understanding and flexibility helps us to find solutions while preserving the positive atmosphere of the workshop.

Factual Communication

Accurate information about a participant’s skill level is crucial for organising workshops that are both enjoyable and effective. Grouping participants appropriately ensures not only the individual’s enjoyment but also the harmony and success of the entire group. While we understand a parent’s natural optimism in assessing their child’s abilities, overestimations can result in unsuitable preparations and impact the experience for all. To aid objective assessment, we provide clear guidelines for determining a child's playing level during the application process and greatly appreciate factual submissions to create the best possible learning environment for everyone.
